60/30 Khakis

OUTLIER-Khakis-Tree.jpgPhoto by Emiliano Granado

The 60/30 Khakis are the sort of pants we love to make. Simple, incredibly comfortable and suited for the rain, grit and repetitive motion of real life. Khaki's you'll want to pull out of you closet and wear everyday. All the while staying lightweight, breathable and gifted with a true freedom of movement. Similar to our OG Pants in cut, but with a button front. Available now in Tan and Olive. Made in New York City with Swiss fabric. $157.

We called our new Khaki fabric "60/30 Cloth" in homage to the fabric that Sierra Design named their killer 60/40 Parka's after. Back in 1968 George Marks and Bob Swanson honed in on a 58% cotton, 42% nylon blend fabric as the ideal balance of handfeel, durability, water resistance and breathability. They rounded the numbers to 60/40 for marketing purposes and went on to make the iconic jacket of 1970's era hiking and camping. For our Khakis we wanted a fabric with a classic cotton twill handfeel, but with the durability of a hiking parka and a four way stretch for the ultimate freedom of movement. We settled on a combination of 64% cotton, 29% nylon and 7% elastane. We added a "self-cleaning" nanosphere treatment for extra water, dirt and grease resistance and quick drying properties. Then we rounded the numbers of to 60/30 for marketing purposes and the 60/30 Khakis were born.

Pivot Sleeve Shirt - An Experiment in Form

OUTLIERLtBlueFlat.jpg

This is quite simply a better men's dress shirt. We started out with a basic task, how could we make a shirt that moved better on a cyclists body, but we wound up with something a bit more subtle. A buttondown shirt cut to fit the body better and open up a range of motion constrained by traditional shirt construction. An experiment in form, the Outlier Pivot Sleeve Shirt.

The basic challenge was straightforward, when you lean forward on a bike a buttondown shirt stresses. It pulls uncomfortably taut across the shoulders. The sleeves pull up exposing your wrists to the cold, and the tails pull out of your pants, leaving you either untucked or with a blooming blouse of a shirt. Our solution is the patent-pending Pivot Sleeve, a completely reconstructed buttondown that retains the traditional look and feel of a dress shirt while working equally well both on and off the bicycle.

From the front it looks like a well cut dress shirt. Like a good stage show, the magic takes place in back unseen by most. The underside of the pivot sleeve flows seamlessly into the back of the garment, creating an extra side panel. By removing the rear arm seam you can move your arm forward without restriction. It opens up a whole range of arm motion, move your arms forward or up and your shirt stays in place, cuff at the wrist, no cutting at the shoulders, your shirt tucked in properly. The extra side panel created by the pivot sleeve gives the shirt a strong form, the extra fluff found in most modern dress shirts is gone, this is how a shirt should fit.

Workwear Pants

OUTLIER-Workwear-Spring-Jump.jpg

A pair of pants stripped down to it's most minimal form and rebuilt for pure function in a 21st century city. Hardwearing, comfortable, tough and honest. The Outlier Workwear cut.

Before we started Outlier we would blowout our jeans every few months, they just weren't made for how we ride our bikes. The Outlier Workwear pants are our attempt to make something better than jeans, an anti-jean if you will. We don't use denim, we aren't too concerned about fashion and we make no attempt at "authenticity." When Levi-Strauss invented the jean, we don't think he copied centuries old pants and fabric. Rather he tried to make the best pants he could with the technology of his day, which is exactly what we did.

We didn't study some long dead miner's trousers and then carefully distress the garment to match. We didn't track down some antique loom and use it to make our fabric exactly the way it was back then. You don't need to wear our pants for six months to break them in just right. There is nothing "authentic" about these pants at all, they're just a simple and strong garment you can live in day in and day out.

We started with the fabric, we wanted something that was both more durable than denim yet also more comfortable. We found it in the Outlier Doubleweave Canvas, a fabric that can take a serious beating yet feels great against the skin. The outer weave is a tough Cordora® canvas, the inside a soft brushed back. It's highly water resistant, quick drying and breathes incredibly well so you get none of that clammy constriction of wet denim. The self-cleaning lotus treatment keeps you looking crisp and smelling great. A curved waistband and gusseted crotch ensure full freedom of movement, just throw them on and start your day, let's go.

Available in Indigo Blue and Black.

Spring Storm Caps

OUTLIERGreenWPCapDetail.jpg

We try not to pick favorites here at Outlier, but man we just can't help thinking that these Spring Storm Caps are our best yet. Made from a beautiful waterproof and breathable Loro Piana wool that combines flawless form and function. The form has been tweaked just slightly from last years Summer Storms as we continue to seek perfection. They'll fit perfectly under a helmet, but they look so good on you might reluctant to cover them up. Just stay safe for us.

As always this is a lined (two layer) cap construction. The inside looks as good as the outer, but more importantly it is dramatically more durable than your standard cycling cap. The bengaline lining and grosgrain band also gracefully mold to your head as you wear it. With any luck, this is a cap you'll be able to give to your grandkids someday.

Made in New York City in collaboration with master milliner Victor Osborne. Available in Navy Blue and Dark Olive for $80. For sizing and more images.

Ultrafine Merino V-Neck

OUTLIEROrangeVee.jpg

Pure, simple and close to perfect. The Ultrafine Merino V-Neck tee. Merino has the incredible ability to suck moisture into the very core of the fiber. This pulls moisture away from your skin cooling you as you sweat, and allowing the fabric to keep breathing if it gets wet. The ultrafine 17.5 grade merino we use is generally softer than cotton and explicitly softer than the 18.9 grade merino most companies use. The result is an amazingly comfortable baselayer.

One word of warning though, this stuff is addictive, once you get a taste of the merino quality it's hard to quit. Luckily its natural anti-microbial properties make it highly odor resistant, you'll find you can get a lot more wear between washes. Just how many wears is up to you, all we can say is some people seem to push it way further than we do personally...

Available in a Pale Gray, Dusty Blue and Fiery Orange. $75 (any three for $195). Made in New York City with ultrafine New Zealand merino. For sizing and more images.

Ultrafine Merino Tee

OUTLIER-MerinoTee-3Up.jpg

We like to call this the emperor's new tee shirt, so soft you'd almost think you are wearing nothing at all. The ultrafine 17.5 micron merino is the best natural performance fabric we can find. Merino has the incredible ability to suck moisture into the very core of the fiber. This pulls moisture away from your skin cooling you as you sweat, and allowing the fabric to keep breathing if it gets wet.

One word of warning though, this stuff is addictive, once you get a taste of the merino quality it's hard to quit. Luckily it's natural anti-microbial properties make it highly odor resistant, you'll find you can get a lot more wear between washes, a small compensation for the princely price. Yeah we know we are selling tee shirts for $75 and truth be told they are underpriced. Ultrafine merino does not come cheap, and we produce them locally because we care about our community, but that doesn't exactly cut our costs. What we do though is cut out the middle man, selling directly via this website. This means that the markups on our clothes are significantly less than clothing you find in retail shops. Maybe it's a new idea, maybe it's an old one, but we believe in selling the absolute best quality garments for the best possible prices. The Ultrafine Merino Tee.

Available in a Pale Gray, Dusty Blue and Fiery Orange. $75 (three for $165). Made in New York City with ultrafine New Zealand merino.

Outlier and ML Brown & Co., the Leather Braided Keychain

OUTLIER-Keychain4.jpg

Function, strength, and style, the Outlier and ML Brown & Co. Braided Keychain. Like so many urban cyclists we keep our keys carabineered to our belt loops. Not because we like it particularly but because it works; keys far enough away from the body that they don't cut into you as you pedal, close enough that you don't forget to take them along. We always thought there had to be a more elegant solution, and we turned to our friends at ML Brown & Co. to help us out. We've long admired their leatherworking craftsmanship and the result is practical, restrained and purposeful, braided leather plus a stainless steel sailing shackle hand bound together with waxed linen to create a keychain.

The Braided Keychain attaches easily to a belt loop, but is long enough to tuck your keys out of site in a back pocket. It can also be worn around a bike lock chain to allow easy access for undoing the lock quicker. If your hands are full, wrap it around your wrist. The Harken-5 shackle is rated for sailing the high seas so we are guessing it can handle the weight of carrying your keys around town too.

4Season OG Pants - Iteration Three

OUTLIER-OG-Profile.jpgPhoto by Emiliano Granado

The ultimate ride to work pants. We built the OUTLIER 4Season OG Pant to be worn day in and day out, both on and off your bike. To this you need something that can stand up to the ride and look good after it's done. The 4Season OGs are a clean cut slack with versatile performance, ready to handle everything from the pressure of the office to a rain storm on your commute. The OG stands for Original Garment, the OG pants are the reason we exist. While the first version we released was close to perfect we refuse to stop pushing, and we are now on the third iteration, a finely honed improvement to our core pants.

Why are these the best pants to bike to work in? On the bike, they breathe, they stretch, they wick and they repel light rain and road grime. At the office they drape beautifully, never stink of sweat, and look like the high quality made in New York City slacks that they are. Your coworkers will have no idea that you rode happily into work wearing them, while they stewed in traffic all morning. The self-cleaning nanosphere treatment means that coffee, wine and dirt roll off with ease, keeping you looking fresh and clean in the trickiest of situations. The Schoeller Dryskin Extreme fabric looks elegant, yet repels water. But when it does saturate, will dry in minutes (generally around 15-20). The doubleweave structure means it's tough and durable on the exterior, yet soft and comfortable inside. The four way stretch doubles-down on that comfort and means these pants move freely through any situation.

The Outlier Khaki OG

OUTLIER-David-Fast.jpgPhoto by Emiliano Granado

For many men putting on a pair of khakis is as much a part of the morning as breakfast. Take a daily operation, and subtly improve it. It's always been how we work at Outlier, and since we weren't quite ready to improve your breakfast, we came up with a better Khaki instead. A cleaner wearing pant, they move freer, breathe better, and handle moisture with ease. Whether you cycle to work everyday, or fly around the world on the regular, a straight up better pant to get the job done. The Outlier Khaki OGs.

In typical Outlier fashion when we decided to do a khaki, we dove into hands-on research. We hustled together a selection of technical cottons and started whipping up samples to test ride. There were loads of promising leads, but nothing quite delivered to the level we needed. In the end we wound up doing a full 180 and returned to our core 4Season fabric. From the handfeel to the way it moved, it proved the best option so far (of course we're always are looking for better.) So we commissioned a special flat tan khaki color and iteration one of the Outlier Khaki was born. With less yellow than most khakis, these pants look better with a wider range of skin tones and can match up with nearly any item in your wardrobe, perfect for a better core garment to build your day around.

Winterweight OG Pant

OUTLIER_CLOSE_ROLL.jpgPhoto by Emiliano Granado

Just in time for snow, the Winterweight OGs are back. Made in New York City these pants are designed for life both on and off your bike, all winter long. Yeah you'll see your breath as you cross the bridges and zip past your coworkers trapped in traffic, but you'll wind up at work feeling great and looking better.

The Winterweight fabric is a heavier fleeced back version of our core 4Season fabric with a 3XDry Treatment. Designed to keep you warm and dry no matter where you ride, yet still look good and wear comfortably when you get inside. A four-way stretch ensures you can move freely, handle the repetitive motion of cycling and still look sharp and refined.

The 3XDry treatment is directional. It pushes water in just one direction, away from your body. It wicks away the sweat and moisture, breathes as well as you do, and is seriously water resistant. Most rain, snow or slush just beads up and rolls away. It's a softshell so eventually it will saturate in intense conditions but when it does get wet, you'll find yourself dry in 10-20 minutes when safe from the elements. The doubleweave fabric has Cordura woven towards the outside for durability and a soft fleecy interior for a beautiful warmth and comfort.

Medium lean in cut. Wear it with a sport coat and oxfords or a hoodie with sneakers. More importantly, wear it without thinking, wear it like a second skin, wear it like a classic that works for any occasion. Fits true to size.

Merino Hoodie

OUTLIER-Hoodie-Portrait.jpgPhoto by Björn Wallander

It's fall again, the leaves are turning and hoodie season is on. From layering up on your morning ride to nighttime commutes home, we have some good news. The ultimate cool weather go-to garment is back. The Outlier Merino Hoodie.

The Outlier Merino Hoodie is made from superfine New Zealand Merino. Merino means it is soft, comfortable, warm and breathable, for everyday wear. We use an 18.8 micron grade of merino that most other companies use for next to skin garments, it's comfortable enough to rock naked. Merino is naturally antimicrobial so it doesn't stink after a day (or three) of wear like so many other materials will. When you start pedaling hard, the merino wicks away moisture keeping you dry and cool. Slow down or stop though and it will keep you as warm as any other good wool sweater. Head inside and it's temperature regulating properties mean you won't overheat.

From the messengers who ride all day, to the delivery guys working all night, and the commuters hitting those cold mornings trips and dark night journeys, Merino is perfect for any rider who doesn't insist on spandex. The three panel hood can fit both over and under a helmet, but looks fine without one too. The extended back of the hoodie keeps you covered and warm even when you reach down into the drops. Raglan sleeves allow for reach and motion. The thick but comfortable elastic cuff lets you push up your sleeves and know that they'll stay up and stay comfortable. The two way zipper lets you adjust the bottom opening and avoid awkward bunching as you pedal.

You know how when you look into your closet you always want to grab the same few items that just feel right? That's exactly what this is, the item that you want to wear everyday. Maybe not 365 days a year, but everyday from first cool breezes of autumn through to last cool days of spring. The go-to essential, the Outlier Merino Hoodie.

As always the production is local, made right here in NYC for quality and style. Available in Black, Mid Gray and Charcoal Blue.

Björn Wallander for Outlier

OUTLIER-Bjorn-David1.jpgWearing Merino Tee and Climbers

Empire Merino Tee

There is a special sort of light we always wanted to capture with Outlier. A soft sharp glow of sorts, the light of fresh Sunday morning as you ride through a silent city. When we first saw Björn's photos we knew we'd found a master of this golden hour. Luckily for us Björn saw our visceral, bikes in motion, style as a challenging way to expand beyond his core practice and the photos started rolling... This is just the beginning we hope...

Nailhead Cap

OUTLIER-Nailhead1.jpgPhoto by Emiliano Granado

This is literally the good stuff. Stuff is a word that can mean just about anything, but its first use as a noun was to describe the worsted wool fabrics that medieval knights stuffed under their suits of armor. Nailhead is one of our favorite worsted wools around. Its subtle pinprick pattern gives it an incredible depth of texture, and as a fine suiting fabric it tends to be made from the softest and longest wool fibers available. That makes it one of the best performance fabrics in the world, but you'd never know since it tends to be used in expensive men's suits and nothing but. We snatched these fabrics from our favorite Brooklyn warehouse determined to find a better use for this quality stuff than the upper class ghetto of office armor and take it back to the streets.

Wool sometimes has a bad rep for being itchy, course and overwarm, but that's only because the good stuff always gets snatched up for suiting fabric. The finer wools breathe better than cotton, and wick moisture into the inner core of their actual fibers. This means they cool you in the summer, keep you warm in the winter and always feel drier to the touch than other fabrics, no matter how wet it is outside. It makes for an incredible cap.

The Nailhead Collection uses our classic cycling cap design done with master milliner Victor Osborne. We line our caps with a bengaline fabric that molds to your head over time, as does our high quality grosgrain banding. Because it's a lined cap, it costs twice as much to make, the lining is essentially a second cap sewn inside the first. But for that added cost you get a cap that should last way more than twice as long, and fit great for all the years you own it. As always we produce our garments in New York City for exceptional quality.

Update 11/29/09: We're sold out but Victor Osborne still has a few left. So head over to his new shop on Orchard St.

Summer Shorts

OUTLIER_Anii_Main.jpg

Summer Shorts

Shorts for a different sort of triathlete. They may not be made for winning races, but you can run, swim and bike in these shorts with style and grace. The OUTLIER Summer Shorts are a classic short that can double as swim trunks. You can ride to the beach, jump in the ocean and ride back to the city without ever having to change. Like all Outlier garments these are shorts designed so you can look good without thinking or planning. Just toss them on, jump on your bike and let the day happen freely.

For the Pale Gray version we used our Summerweight fabric and for the Black our 4Season. Both fabrics are made by Schoeller in Switzerland and have all the great performance properties discussed elsewhere on our site. Water resistant, quick drying, 4way stretch, abrasion resistance, the list goes on... We added supplex pocketing so everything dries down as fast as any swimsuit in the sun. If you need to take a wave, the side pulls cinch up to hold everything firmly in place. The extra side loops let you clip in your keys. The inseam falls at the lower to mid thigh so that you always look proper even in the most compromising situations those late night pool parties bring.

Fit wise, buy your standard size. If you are in between sizes go for the larger. The side pulls will cinch in tightly to take up any slack. The leg opening is a medium lean and the inseams are 7.5". Like all our garments the Summer Shorts are made in New York City to ensure superior quality and construction.

Summer Storm Cap

OUTLIER-Storm-Main.jpg

Summer Storm Cap

We created the Summer Storm cap with the aim of making something as refreshing and unexpected as a summer thundershower. We started with an elegant Zegna wool suiting, but made it completely waterproof and breathable. It's laminated with a membrane that allows moisture vapor to escape, but blocks water droplets when raining. So you get the best of both performance and class.

Unlike traditional cycling caps, it's a lined cap. The supplex lining we use has a soft handfeel like traditional cap lining, yet is quick drying and completely breathable. The lining also means it's a lot more durable than your average cap, with a much more finished look and feel.

As with all our caps, we work with the master milliner Victor Osborne to get a precise fit. A small is 21.5 inches naturally and stretches to 22.5. A medium is 22.5 inches naturally and stretches to 23.5. A large is 23.5 inches naturally and stretches to 24.5. A traditional look with a modified four panel construction made in New York City.

The Summer Storm Caps are available now.

The Summer Editions

OUTLIER-Clb-Legs.jpg
size 31 Climbers

Summer Edition Pants

As the summertime heat kicks up, we have only one goal in a pair of pants, to make them feel like they aren't there at all. The Outlier Summer Edition pants don't quite make it to that point, but they get about as close as you can while still being worthy of being called pants. Coasting downhill in a nice breeze, you might just reach that promised land and forget you are wearing anything at all. The rest of time? Well you'll just have to settle for some of the lightest, most breathable and best wicking pants around. Then when that summer shower rolls through you'll find these pants are highly water resistant too and you'll actually be quite glad you are clothed.

Our Summerweight fabric is incredibly light for pants, at 180g/m2 it is actually lighter than our Empire Tee merino! It's engineered in Switzerland by Schoeller and there is magic in how they weave it. The outside is tightly woven nylon, forming a durable water resistant shell. The inside is loosely woven Coolmax, forming a soft face that pulls moisture away from your body. The only drawback is that at such a lightweight it's not quite as durable as our core 4Season fabric, but it's remarkably tough for it's weightclass.

The fabric has a fractal like surface texture that increases the surface area to amplify both the water resistance and the wicking. The directional 3xDry treatment then amplifies this whole effect again. It's really two treatments in one, the inside sucks in water pulling it to the outer surface and cooling you off. The outside however repels water so you can stay dry in light rain. Add in some stretch, some UV protection plus some antimicrobial properties, and you can probably understand a little why we love this fabric. The best way to know is through experience, so snap up a pair while they last.

The Summer Editions are available in both our classic OG Pants cut and the new slim Climber cut for $220. The color is a crisp pale gray and the run is super limited, just 18 pairs in each of the two cuts.

The Climbers

OUTLIER-Matt-Main.jpg

The Climbers (Slim Pants)

This one is for the climbers, the mountain goats, the skinny guys built to race up mountains fast and blast down them a whole lot faster. Different body types need different clothing, and at Outlier we are out to make clothing that fits all sorts of cyclists body shapes. The Climber pants are a slim cut that fits fantastic on the skinnier dudes but also looks great on more average size bodies.

The OUTLIER Climber pants are a full on reengineering of slim cut pants for a cyclists world. The innovative vertical yoke removes most of the traditional stress points that cycling generates in a garment, allowing for a free range of movement. The curved waistband is higher in the back to hide your crack from the world and lower in the front to allow you to lean forward and ride in comfort. The spread back pockets are easy to access and positioned so you don't sit on them while riding. Cut slim for comfort, form and aesthetics. Fits slim to average built men. If you've got sprinter thighs though unfortunately you probably should pass on these, but rest assured we are working on garments cut just for your body type in the future.

The Climbers are made with our classic Outlier 4Season Lotus fabric, made by Schoeller Texiles in Switzerland. The four-way stretch gives you full movement, light rain beads off and rolls away, and when it does get wet it drys in minutes not hours. The self cleaning Lotus or Nanosphere treatment makes it highly resistant to oil, grease, dirt and coffee, so don't worry about your chain dirtying your pants or your morning cup of joe spilling all over you as you ride. This stuff wicks and breathes great too and it probably does some other things we forgot...

The Climbers are made in New York City and available in Black and Slate Gray. Click here for a Size Chart and more images.

Empire Merino Tee

OUTLIER-Empire-Tee-Roll1.jpg

Empire Merino Tee

This is a tee-shirt fit for an emperor, so soft and well tailored you'd think you were wearing nothing at all. We took ultrafine merino from the Southern Alps of New Zealand and had it cut and sewn in New York City, just blocks from the Empire State building. It cools you in the summer, warms you in the winter and looks great all year round. We call it the Empire Merino Tee after our friends in Empire. Their approach might be different but we are doing the exact same thing, bringing the styles of the New York streets to the world of cycling.

(Please note that Mediums are on backorder and will ship mid-late July)

Tropical Wool Cap

OUTLIER-AustinCap.jpg

Tropical Wool Cap

Earlier this spring, biking on the edges of Brooklyn we stumbled on an incredible stash of surplus tropical wool suiting. Never ones to let things go to waste, we snatched it up and turned it into the OUTLIER Tropical Wool Caps. Tropical wools are nothing like the heavy ichy stuff you think of when you think wool. These are the same fabrics that you'll find in a $3000 summer suit and they make for a midweight cap with a fantastic look, fit and feel. Lets hope we can keep finding more of this stuff!

The OUTLIER Tropical Wool Cap is made in collaboration with our friend and master milliner Victor Osborne and designed with the highest attention to detail. We started with Italian tropical wool suiting, known as the finest cloth in the world and graded in terms of a Super number. The higher the number, the finer the wool. These caps are all made from Super 80s or better, which means they will have similar performance qualities to our premium merinos.

Unlike most cycling caps, this is a lined cap. The bengaline lining gives the hat a much more solid feel, and will actually mold to your head shape over time. it also makes for a dramatically more durable cap, these should out last your standard flimsy single layer cap by years. This is true quality in look feel and function. We don't stop with the details you can see either. While most caps brims are plastic or stiff cardboard, we use a high quality leather particulate, which gives it a great snap and durability to boot. We finish it all off with a high quality grosgrain headband, like the lining this will mold to your head over time so that the cap feels like it just was made to fit on your head. And maybe it was.

The Super 80s are available in black and navy for $75.
The Highgrades are all sold out.

Fit wise, a small is 21.5 inches naturally and stretches to 22.5. A medium is 22.5 inches naturally and stretches to 23.5. A large is 23.5 inches naturally and stretches to 24.5. A traditional look with a modified four panel construction, fully lined and made in New York City for style and quality.

January Experimental Drop - The 4Season Variations (SOLD OUT)

Outlier-zackin4seasondry.jpg

OG Pant 4Season Variation 1, Black - SOLD OUT

OG Pant 4Season Variation 2, Dark Gray - SOLD OUT

Rumor has always held that the devil is in the details. At Outlier, we are always chasing a particular devil through the details, the devil of perfection and quality. What that means to you is that we are always testing and experimenting with subtle ways to improve our garments. Once we get to a certain level of quality the only way to learn more is to get it out into the world at large and that's where our Experimental Drop series comes in.

This is our second Experimental Drop and for this one we took our classic OG 4Season pants and produced a very limited run of 2 variations that flip the fabric.

Variation 1 uses the exact same Schoeller Dryskin Extreme base fabric as the original 4Seasons, but uses a 3xDry treatment. This is a directional treatment that amplifies the already excellent wicking, breathing and water resistance properties of the fabric. It pulls sweat away from your body on the inside and repels it away on the out. Available in black.

Variation 2 also uses 3xDry, but it also adds a fleece backing. A touch softer and a touch warmer, you could call this the 4Season Northern Variation. Available in dark grey.

Like their original 4Season cousins the 4Season Variations are close to the perfect pair pants for life on and off the bike. They stretch, breathe, wick and are abrasion resistant for comfort in motion. Water and grease resistant to handle the elements. Tailored in New York City for style and quality.

OUTLIER Workwear Hoodie (SOLD OUT)

Outlier_hoodie_main2.jpg

Workwear Hoodie - SOLD OUT

And now to wrap up the last component of our experiment, the OUTLIER Workwear Hoodie. The finale that Abe and I made sure we were to grab. Our super durable Workwear fabric for maximum abrasion resistance with a Lotus treatment. This is the one that you could take a spill without any notice. Throw some water on it and the grease and dirt will just roll off. The exterior is a tough Cordura grade nylon with a canvas like weave, and inside a soft fleece that keeps you comfortable throughout the day. It breathes great, is highly water resistant and dries fast.

The cut is clean and minimal. Raglan sleeves for a full range of action, a big hood that can go over helmets and a long back to keep you covered when riding. An elegant yet tough layer that works flawlessly as a spring jacket too.

The cut runs classic, a bit smaller than the inflated sizes of many contemporary American brands. Designed to be the second or third layer from the skin. If in doubt between two sizes, or if you want to rock it with big sweaters underneath, err towards the larger size.

Limited edition of 9 and not in full production until next fall at the soonest. Schoeller Dry Skin Extreme + Nanosphere. Available in a dark blueish gray. Ships in January.

OUTLIER Wool Lotus Trousers and Cap (SOLD OUT)

tyler-leg-tracks.jpg

Wool Lotus Trousers in Charcoal - SOLD OUT
Wool Lotus Cap in Charcoal -SOLD OUT

One thing we absolutely love is the classic look and feel of a high quality wool garment. Fine wool was historically the core cycling material, and we've flipped it with a Lotus self cleaning treatment to produce two more Outlier future classics. Announcing the OUTLIER Wool Lotus Trousers and the OUTLIER Wool Lotus Cap.

Like the sweet ride of your favorite steel bike or the victory drink after a job well done these wool trousers will not disappoint. Wool naturally wicks, breathes superior and doesn't trap odor, so you can be sure you'll show up feeling and looking your best. The fine suiting grade quality can be worn against the skin with no itch. The Lotus treatment is stain, dirt and water resistant so you don't have to worry if the sky's turn against you or if the road decides to kick up dirt. With four percent stretch these trousers will allow you to move freely, while still looking professional in even the most conservative of office environments.

For additional warmth and a down-right good look, we partnered with our friends at Victor Osborne to bring you the Wool Lotus Cap. Made in New York City this cycling cap is fully lined and of the highest quality in both construction and material. It's made with the same charcoal Wool Lotus we use in the trousers and lined with a cotton/poly blend. You'll find this cap is like a Brooks saddle, it works-in and molds perfectly to your head with a bit of time. It's made to fit most heads with a maximum stretch to 22.75 inches.

OG Pant Winterweight Dry (SOLD OUT)

zakshoetie.jpg

OG Pant Winterweight Dry Gray - SOLD OUT

If you live as north as we do (and we're not that far north) you know that winter is coming fast and if you want to keep riding, you need the right gear. So just in time, Outlier's original garment the OG Pant is now available in our Winterweight Dry fabric.

Made in New York City these pants are designed for life both on and off your bike, all winter long. It might be freezing as you cross the bridge, you might need to dodge a couple taxis and of course you'll pass your coworkers trapped in traffic, but when you walk into the door at work you'll be feeling and looking great in your OG Winterweight Dry's.

Crafted with care and the classic Outlier attention to detail, they are styled to work everywhere from your office to a night in the city. The OG Winterweight Dry's are made with a hardcore technical fabric that will keep you warm and dry no matter where you ride. They have a 40% stretch so you can move freely. Yet hold up to the repetitive motion of cycling and still look sharp and refined.

The Dry treatment is directional. The fabric includes cordura grade nylon for major durability. The weave is such that the tough nylon is concentrated on the outside, while the inside is a fuzzy heat retaining fleece for warmth and comfort.

You could call this cut a true medium. Wear it with a sport coat and oxfords or a hoodie with sneakers. More importantly, wear it without thinking, wear it like a second skin, wear it like a classic that works for any occasion.

Sizing wise, these should fit similar at the waist to a Levis 501 jean of the same size. Because they stretch, some people like to size down one size to get a slightly slimmer profile. The inseams on our pants are a minimum of 34" and like most high-end pants, are designed to be hemmed by you for the perfect length.

OG Pant 4Season Black Lotus

tyler-3quarters-downhill-01.jpg

OG Pant 4Season Black Lotus

Sorry we are sold out of our online inventory of the 4Season Black Lotus. Stock is still available via Trackstar, Chari & Co and Affinity. We have an experimental 4Season variation coming around the end of January and expect a new supply of proper 4Seasons in the early spring.

The perfect pair pants for life on and off the bike. They stretch, breathe and are abrasion resistant for comfort in motion. Self cleaning, water and grease resistant to handle the elements. Tailored in New York City for style and quality.

Our goal has always been to make future classics, clothes that work as well yesterday as they will in a few years. Only time will tell if we succeeded but we certainly think we are on the right track.

Made in New York City with Schoeller Dryskin Extreme fabrics, these pants are designed for the ultimate in versatility, both socially and technologically. This is the best technical fabric around, you'll stay cool and dry no matter how hard you ride. The Lotus or Nanosphere coating is "self cleaning" (that's the technical term no lie.) The surface is coated in nanoscopic spikes that prevent grease and stain molecules from bonding to the fabric. Water just rolls off, taking with it any dirt that might remain.

It's water resistant and quick drying, so no worries if the sky turns against you. As a softshell it will eventually saturate in the craziest storms, but get indoors and you'll find yourself dry in 10-20 minutes. Light rain? Forget it, that stuff just rolls right off, just like the coffee or red wine you might have spilled upon it.

You could call this cut a true medium. It stretches as you ride, but drapes beautifully off the bike. You could rock it with a sport coat and oxfords or a hoodie with sneakers. More importantly you can wear it without thinking, wear it like a second skin, wear it like a classic that works in any occasion.

Sizing wise, these should fit similar at the waist to a Levis 501 jean of the same size. Because they stretch some people like to size down one size to get a slightly slimmer profile. The inseams on our pants are a minimum of 34" and like most high end pants are designed to hemmed to length by you.
