We recommend that you machine wash your pants with warm water and lay them flat to dry. They will dry much faster then most other garments. To reactivate the water resistance, you can also put your pants in the dryer on low for 5-10 minutes or iron them on a low. The heat should make the water resistance as good as new. They can also be dry cleaned, which can help remove tough stains like bike grease.

The most important thing to know about our pants sizing is that you probably should buy the size you normally buy. If you usually buy size 30 pants, you probably are a size 30 in our sizing.
If you want a more detailed explanation here it is: You might notice that the waist band actually measures 2 inches more than the named size. This is an industry standard, most pants sold as size 30 waist actually have a waistband that measures 32" and sometimes it'll even measure as much as 34". There are a few reasons for this. For one, no one actually wears pants at their actual waist anymore, so if you measure 30" at your real waist you will likely measure around 32" where you wear your pants. It's also a vanity thing, as men in the US got bigger clothes started getting bigger, Mediums are bigger than they used to be and so are size 30s. We tried fighting it for a second but it was too confusing, so we rolled with the standard, but we also felt the need to be honest on our sizing, so there it is above.

The big difference between the two is stretch and texture.
The 4Season fabric has a 4-way stretch, it basically moves with you in any direction you flex. The Workwear has a tiny bit of 2-way stretch, but for the most part it does not stretch.
The Workwear has a canvas outer weave, it's tough and has more of visible depth and texture then the 4Season which has a subtle twill outerweave.
Both fabrics have a lot in common. They are both doubleweaves, meaning that they are woven in a way that the outside face and inner face have very different characteristics. The Workwear inner face is brushed soft, while the 4Season inner face is a soft loosely woven box construction that helps pull moisture away from the body.
Both fabrics breath incredibly well. Both are super durable, they both include a degree of Cordura grade nylon on the exterior making them tough and abrasion resistant, with the Workwear being a touch tougher. Both are woven to be naturally water resistant, with the 4Season being a touch better in that regard. Both dry super quick. Both are treated with the "self-cleaning" nanosphere treatment, that makes them dirt, beer and coffee resistant.
Both can be machine washed warm, and do not need to be machine dried they dry fast enough as is. We do however recommend you occasional tumble dry on medium heat for 5-10 minutes to help restore the water resistance. You can also get the same effect by ironing with low heat.

We are always happy to talk about our prices. Yes of course they are expensive when compared to pants made using cheap fabrics and cheap, unregulated overseas labor. We make pants using high quality technical fabrics, fabrics that through our testing we believe to the absolutely best ones available. We have these pants constructed locally right in the heart of New York City's Garment District. All that adds up to a pant that costs considerable more than your cheap fabric-cheap labor-chain store sort of pant.
Truth be told we actually sell our pants at well below the standard market rate give the fabrics and production we use. The NYT had an interesting article that breaks down some of those costs, you can check it out here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/29/fashion/29ROW.html Rather than selling to retailer who resell our products we sell directly to our customers, allowing us to keep the price point down. If we were wholesaling them they'd be $300-400 in the shops!
For what it's worth we offer unconditional 6 month returns, we even pay shipping both ways on domestic returns. Despite that policy our return rates are well below industry standards. We believe in our product, and it seems other people do to. Our products aren't for everyone of course, if you are mainly concerned with getting the cheapest item regardless of the quality you'll be much better off shopping elsewhere. Similarly if things like durability, water resistance, breathability, freedom of movement and quality local production aren't of interest to you, then we aren't really the place you should be looking to for pants. But if that sort of thing interests you, well that's what we make and you get what you pay for, risk free. Feel free to buy a pair and try them for yourself, that's definitely the best way to answer the question!

This how pants are sold today. A size 32 pant will have a waistband of between 34 and 36". We try to keep it at a 2" difference, which is pretty much standard.
There are lot of reasons for this. For one almost no one wears their pants at the true waist any more, most pants are worn at the top of the hip, which tends to be around 2" wider than the waist. The other reason is vanity sizing, clothing companies over the past couple decades have been slowly making sizes bigger to try and trick people into thinking they are getting skinnier. Dubious proposition, but that's what happened.
When we first started we made our size 32s with a 32" waistband. We found it was way more trouble then it was worth to explain to people why our pants ran so much smaller than their ones at home. You need to pick your battles and we decided this one wasn't worth it and we size our pants as close to industry standard as we can.
