OUTLIER Tailored Performance logo lockup

Just received my Pivot Sleeved shirt very pleased with it the quality of the cotton and the cut is exceptional I will be ordering more garments over the next few weeks thanks for everything. - Martin, April 2010

I was too lazy to put on my rainpants on the ride to work yesterday. It started pouring halfway to work and I just trusted the OG's. When I got to work, I looked soaked, but it didn't go through and I was dry within an hour. - Jason, April 2010

I've been riding in them for two weeks now and they have been nothing short of great. I even took a decent spill on a wonky greased corner in a parking structure and you can't even tell ever they met the concrete at 15 mph. Thank you for a great product. - Gary, April 2010

I wanted to let you know how much I like the Hoodie I purchased from you. I received it this week on Monday and have worn it everyday, all day. It is THAT comfortable and good looking. I don't mind being cold (mid 40's or CA cold) and my boss at work remarked I must really like it since I'm wearing the Hoodie inside the building where it's warm. If you'll be making them again please let me know because I'd love to get a grey one. - Harry, April 2010

I got the pants and they are great. Just rode uptown for a meeting and arrived comfortable and stylin. Thanks again for the effortless exchange. - Maggie in T.O, March 2010

I raced Monstertrack this weekend in my Outlier pants and they were so comfortable. They were just right for the weather and I didn't get overheated when I really started pushing it. It was also awesome to be able to go to the afterparty and not have to change clothes! It was also my third consecutive win. - Heather, March 2010

hey guys, just a note to say i received my winter rinding pants today, and i couldn't have asked for a better fit. i think this is the first time i can say a pant fit me perfectly in every way. don't know how you knew, but i'm glad you did. ;-) thanks so much! - -kps, March 2010

I ordered your waxed cotton cap about a half year ago. After wearing it on a daily basis, I really must admit, it's awesome. It's so light and simple. And after wearing it in all kind of weather, it has gotten a nice pattern and feel. which makes the cap even more special. I could not imagine going out without wearing the cap. You can wear the cap to every occasion. I wore it to a wedding and nobody noticed that it was a cycling cap. But I also wear it when I am on my road bike. The style is just fantastic. You do a great job designing bicycle realted clothing. I thank you very much. You really enhance the cycling community with your products. Greetings - Felix from Deutschland , February 2010

digging out from this monster snowstorm in Maryland and wanted to let you know that with roads clogged with close to 30" of snow and work appointments that were pressing and could not be rescheduled, I donned my Outlier grey 3 season pants and - rode the 8ish miles to work (no way that a car could get out of our neighborhood) over snowy, icy, and slushy streets - met with co-workers for a couple of meetings - rode home - put bike away and shoveled out two cars in preparation for the next storm - went sledding with my son And when I finally took them off, and hung them up, they looked...fine. It really is a splendid product. Thank you - Raj in Maryland, February 2010

After years spent trying to find pants which combine great looks, comfort, and impeccable tailoring my search is over.I own a pair of the Workwear and OG4Season pants and absolutely love them. They combine great comfort, durability, and understated style. The service has been fantastic.I find myself regularly visiting the Outlier site looking to see which products are about to be released and rushing to place my order before they are sold out. From a lifelong customer. - Rob in Ohio, February 2010

I just returned from visiting friends in Cairo. From the pyramids at Giza, to the Cairo Opera House, to the Sahara at the boarder of Libya, OUTLIER products were essential assets to my travel experience. The Merino Shirt, OG Pants, Workwears, and Button Up were really all I needed here and they enabled me to pack light and enjoy every change in weather and excursion we embarked on. They also simply held up and looked good throughout. Thanks for making the goods! - Joe, January 2010

I just wanted to thank you for producing such great products. The climbers are the perfect fit, ridiculously functional on the bike, and stylish when not riding. Your customer service is unparalleled. - Pavan, January 2010

When I went to my first rainy business meeting, riding a bike with your OG pants, a bus passed me and splashed me completely with mud and water. I considered returning to office, but few seconds later I noticed that all the dirt and water just went away! I arrived on time, and miraculously clean and dry! Thanx! - Ranko in Croatia, January 2010

you guys have outdone yourselves. the Pivot shirt that arrived in the mail today fits me better than pretty much any other ready-to-wear shirt i have. i'm looking forward to picking up a few more. - Chris, December 2009

quick email to give you guys credit for creating amazing apparel, that fits and works well. Received the order on friday, in Australia, and headed straight down to a 24 hour mountain bike race, where i proceeded to work for 30 plus hours, wearing your clothes non-stop, making espresso. Comfortable, and no stinky! loved it. - Hayden, December 2009

hey guys, just got the workwear pants. even before i got on the bike, i was impressed by the hand feel and cut. the fit is perfect. i rushed out to get them hemmed for the following day. i just got back from my first pedal with them on. perfection. to say i love them is an understatement. the amount of stretch is just right. i really appreciate what you guys are doing. so few products these days are built with such attention to detail, design and craftsmanship. you should be proud. thanks again for a wonderful product. - Ryan in BC, November 2009

Rock & Ice Magazine: Field Tested - Climber Pants Outlier is a company that focuses on making tailored performance apparel for cycling in the city, so when they sent me a pair of pants I expected to shred them like an illegal document. The most noticeable attribute is the fit. I’m skinny, and many climbing pants hang off my legs. In contrast, the Outlier pants are slim-cut—not quite lycra tights (thank God), but tailored close to the legs with a narrow cuff that doesn’t bell and hide foot holds. The fabric, called Outlier 4Season Lotus is made by Schoeller Textiles, the Swiss grand poobah of technical outerwear. Four-way stretch lets you throw your leg over your head in offwidths, light rain beads and rolls off like spit on pancake griddle and when the fabric does get soaked it dries faster than you can say “warm when wet.” Better yet, the fabric is treated with Nanosphere, a stain- and dirt-resistant application that helps the fabric stay clean so you won’t smell like road-kill after a week in the mountains. Despite my fears that city-cyclists couldn’t design a burly climbing pant, I’ve been impressed with the durability. This weekend I wore them at a sandstone crag, climbed all day, barbecued, then bumbled down a two-mile, oak brush-choked trail in the dark with no headlamp. I wound up with a few bruises, but the pants survived without a snag. I’d recommend these pants for any adventure that involves climbing—from trips to the backcountry to New York City pub crawls. - Jeff Jackson Rock & Ice Magazine, November 2009

Delighted to report that my order arrived today and I now see why your clothing has received such rave reviews. The trousers are thoughtfully designed, elegant yet understated - and I can see them lasting for years. I was also reassured by your sincere response when I was concerned by my 'late' arriving order!! This level of customer service is not common, but will certainly win you returning patrons. I am glad there are an increasing number of companies who will thrive because their guiding ethics and philosophies touch a cord with people all over the world. - Denise, November 2009

Quite honestly I've always liked Outlier's creations but never understood the higher costs until now. I must admit, this is the most comfortable apparel I've ever put on. Everything from the button-down to the tee and the pants, top notch!Quite possibly the nicest stuff I've received all year. - Luis, November 2009

Re: Returns - That's easy. I'll definitely be buying some more stuff from you guys. It's so difficult to find decent clothes you can bike to work in. - Brett, November 2009

I received an Outlier waxed cotton cap and pair of black Climbers in the mail in time for my boyfriend's birthday. And let me just say, the quality of the products far outweighed my expectations and I can safely say you now have an Outlier-for-life convert. My boyfriend Jacob is an ex gymnast who has just gotten into riding fixed gear bikes to sate his innate urge to test his balance. He has been through so many pairs of jeans that have ripped in the crouch from all his antics but the extra reinforced stitching in your pants is no match for him. He can finally move freely without worry. We've recently moved from Australia to Singapore and the fabric on the Climbers breathes magnificently in the humidity. I'm just so jealous that you don't have womens' cuts. Keep up the great work - I've just placed an order for the Climbers in slate grey...goodbye shitty jeans! - Bianca, October 2009

These are easily the nicest pair of "every day" slacks I own. It feels good to be able to buy locally-crafted clothing of such high caliber. I don't usually spend $188 on pants (ever) but I can say these are more than 3 times the quality of the $60 I would pay for pants that only last me a couple of months, tops. Well done and congrats on a superb product! - Chris, October 2009

btw, just want to say, I love what you are doing. Totally impressed with the personal touch of your letter. I had my friend Kate Cook blog about you in her eco-fashion blog: Seedandsew.com - David, October 2009

I've been meaning to write this letter for a bit, but I just wanted to say that I am truly impressed with the quality you guys have put forth. The Workwear pants got here just in time for the first snowfall, and they perform better than I would have ever expected. The snow barely stuck to them, and I can't imagine needing to put on some thermals anymore unless its in the single digits. Can't wait to get the 4 season pants and the hoodie. I'll be putting the Workwear through a stress test this weekend splitting some wood up in the mountains, and if they hold up like I expect, I don't see myself wearing jeans ever again. - Michael, October 2009

small shops like Outlier and BillyKirk make me happy. we (at Cotten Music) want to be as good as these shops. i mean that. - @cottenmusic , October 2009

I just received my 4Season Pants. I must say I am very impressed with the product. They fit absolutely perfect, the fabric is both luxurious and very practical. The workmanship is thoughtful and confident. Truly, I want to give you props for a quality product. I will be spreading the word. Keep up the good work. - Scott from Boston, September 2009

Re: Workwear - I love the color, the concentration on construction while leaving the materials to speak for themselves (comparable to how some painters approach their craft), the absence of all kinds of branding agendas. love their cut-the slim look (the 29 fits well), the way you've created a active/stylish hybrid that allows you to do things but still look good. They're really comfortable-you didn't exaggerate about anything in the description on your website. I feel I can go from a hike in the mountains here to dinner without skipping a stylish beat. And. The fact you're making these in America is fantastic. I've been trying to buy American as much possible from suits (I wear suit and tie on my 20 plus trips around the country for business) to shirts to trousers. I sort of informally collect and wear clothing form people designing and crafting here in this country. Love the craftsmanship I see and feel in these pants. - Dean in New Mexico, September 2009

Received the pants on Saturday! Very happy with them, you guys keep outdoing yourselves. P.S. Was riding in the pants yesterday and had what must be the most embarrassing fall. Coming to a complete stop at a traffic light I disengaged my right foot from the toe clip and immediately realized I was way off-balance. What followed must have looked great to onlookers as I was unable to pull my left foot out of the clip and just keeled right over. Knee and hand down on the pavement. The pants, not even a scratch.. - Alexei, September 2009

I just wanted to say, that your merino wool T-shirt is now my favorite garment of all. Thanks for making them. If you guys come out with different colors like dark grey or navy, I'd buy them in a flash. - Inbrae, September 2009

Re: Workwears - You guys nailed the cut on these, nice height front and back, slim and form-fitting through seat and thigh without being skin tight, nice and slim through the lower leg (but not skin tight, which i hate) but still boot-cut enough for my big winter boots. i expected the fabric to be a bit stiff but it actually has a nice drape to it and the hand's not bad at all. once i get some rides in on them i'll holler back. - McDude, September 2009

workwears are the most comfortable pants i own, i can move freely in them, no more jeans - jk in NYC, September 2009

@OutlierTailored hey guys thanks for the letter. this is why I bought outlier pants: http://twitpic.com/fmh1d lemme know if you make chinos - @hue1120 via Twitter, August 2009

I recievd the t-shirt this past week and have been wearing it non-stop. Everything that was claimed was true, it's quick drying, breathes well, fits like a glove, and resists odors. Thanks much for such a great product. - Pavan, August 2009

All I can say is, "Wow." The pants arrived in good time, the size was just as I had expected, a perfect fit. You and Abe are definitely doing things right up there... I'm completely smitten by the craftmanship. I work for a small company that manufactures performance car parts for domestic automobiles and at this point in time, I feel it's very important to keep manufacturing local, and it seems that you guys have done just that. You practice good business and you've definitely satisfied "this customer"... I can't thank you enough for producing such a quality product that's backed by a solid reputation. - Jared, August 2009

Just wanted to let you know that I received the clothes last Thursday. Both the shorts and hat are amazing, and I literally have not removed either of them in the last five days (which included a trip to Long Beach Island in New Jersey -- the shorts did wonderfully in the ocean). Thanks again for the brilliant gear. - Nick, August 2009

These new Outlier shorts are fantastic. Can't walk out the door without wearing them. Great cut and so comfortable. - Mazzo via Twitter, July 2009

an expensive piece of swimwear but worth every penny. I practically lived in them during the holiday weekend up north because they don't look like I should be surfing by a beach. Getting a lot of confused looks from people asking if they are swimwear That was exactly what I was looking for! - Adrian, July 2009

I’m really satisfied with my order. I've pretty much been living in my summer shorts since I got them. They look good enough for the office, and are awesome on the bike, in the rain and in Lake Michigan. My one suggestion would be to add at least one best loop for attaching keys. When I've tried to hang my keys off the side tab, it usually pulls the strap through the d-rings after a while-- had to retrace my steps to find my keys on two occasions before I figured that one out.
I’m also really impressed with the climber pants. The fit is good and, again, they look great. Recently I biked to work in them on a day it rained and I'd forgotten I had a meeting with a client. I ran down the street to pick up a shirt and then after waiting 20 minutes for the pants to dry and brushing off the dust I was ready to go.I've recommended you guys to a friends at work and a few buddies around town. Come the fall I'll definitely be picking up more of your gear. - Brian, July 2009

The Climbers: Just received them this morning and they fit/feel/look great! Being in New Zealand I feel proud we provide great quality materials to Outlier who design future styles with a classic edge! I'm definitely buying more from you guys! Cheers. - Henry in New Zealand, June 2009

recieved the shorts last week and tried them out (including swimming). They are perfect and I will be wearing them a lot. Thanks for designing stylish cycling apparel, keep on! - Nicola in Geneva, June 2009

Got 'em and couldn't be happier with them! Here in LA I don't even ride a bike but have been getting nothing but compliments from everyone...the weather so far has been fair but cannot wait for it to rise to test them then. Thanks for the super fast service too :-) - Julio, June 2009

im thoroughly impressed, I've been waring them as much as possible. im touring around Tokyo and Taipei right now so have done pretty much everything in them so far, party, relax, sleep, hike. A little hot for the weather down here but comfortable for the most part. Its typhoon season right now and there's lots of rain, there showing there worth for this rainy weather. looking forward to the climbers for the sprinter thighed dudes. - Zane, June 2009

Thank you so much for the care and attention you take with your customers. I am wearing the hat for the first time today and have gotten two compliments already. If the rest of your product line shares the same attention to detail and quality as your hats, then you will definitely see more orders from me. Specifically your blue merino hoodie. Thanks again for the great service! - Kyle, June 2009

Between the quality and the customer service, this shit is worth every penny. I'm sure everyone says this but as long as it's warm enough, I will probably wear them every day. - Aaron , June 2009

I've been jamming out in your shorts non-stop since receiving them last week. Its been raining ad infinitum here in Providence and biking to and fro has been no issue. Outlier has a big fan out here in Rogues Isle.
Your thirty-two's are a perfect fit. Look for another order from me come winter. - JayZ, June 2009

hey, i bought the black 32 shorts on saturday, a shame you weren't there on sunday so i could heap praise on you! as soon as i put them on in the bathroom, my skin was very happy! soft, pliable. rode in the rain, quick dry! slept in them twice, swam once. i'm really impressed with their look and feel. you should really try to get bicycling to do a review of them for their magazine. bikesnob is now their new columnist since 2 issues ago, replacing styleman. - Dave at the BFF, June 2009

Ok,for guys who BIKE to work: www.outlier.cc. Great tailored well-made clothes that work for biking and looking good. Women's coming soon! - Stacy London, June 2009

--I got the shorts. They are awesome. I'm equally excited about what you guys are up to. - Daniel, June 2009

Just wanted to let you know that the shorts arrived late last week and I spend a good portion of the weekend pedaling around. Great stuff. - Nathan, June 2009

Save the spandex for weekends. Woven from New Zealand wool, this lightweight performance shirt sucks up sweat yet won't require a cologne bath in the office washroom. Its 17.5-micron-thick fibers fight the stink naturally, and because it looks like a normal tee, you won't resemble Lance Armstrong on a casual Friday. Rated 8 out 10. - Wired Magazine, July 2009 page 52, June 2009

Another rainy bike commute less fun on arrival. Good thing wearing @OutlierTailored. - Julian via Twitter, June 2009

i picked up a shirt from you guys at the bike swap a couple weeks ago in bklyn. you told me to send you a email with a little feedback -
i finally got to wear the shirt today. i have been saving it cause i tend to do that with my nicer wear, always too afraid to stain the pits to quickly. there are some deodorant marks on the pits now but nothing a wash won't take care of. but, as promised, the pits dry so quick! i was also wearing a full back pack style messenger bag. i knew i'd sweat. no way around that when carrying a bag. but i sat down for lunch and when i got up i noticed i was all dry! awesome! you know how shitty it is to put your bag back on when you're shirt is all gross. it's like sitting in a hot car all day with wet swimming trunks on. thanks for making a great product and i hope to pick up some more. maybe i'll try and win the OPFD shorts. thanks, - Jordan in NYC, June 2009

Thanks for following up; I love the hat it actually fits my giant head (I wear an XXL in Bern helmets) with a little wiggle room which is rare. I don't have anything but praise for you, no complaints. Keep it up man. Plans to drop Merino shirts in colors other than black? Looks like a gray one in some of the recent photos on the site. thanks again, - Lloyd, June 2009

Arrived perfect. Rode them in to work today. The fit is good and I think they are going to servive the Chicago weather nicely. Thanks for the follow up, - Jeffrey in Chicago, June 2009

Hello, I purchased a pair of the 4 season pants on Sunday at the Bike Jumble. They are fantastic. I've gotten compliments on them all around and rode in yesterday's rain shower with great results. They are hands down the most comfortable pants I now own. - Aaron in NYC, June 2009

I just wanted to say that i received my pair of climbers today and they are amazing. thank you for your sizing chart; i ordered a size smaller than what i wear and they fit great. The cut is amazing, the front pockets are perfect, and the stretch makes it feel like you're wearing sweats. I look forward to seeing what the shorts look like. and if they don't sell out too quick will probably get another pair of the climbers in black in the near future.

Thanks - Billy, June 2009

I absolutely love your trousers, I've worn them far too many times in just the two weeks. Florida is hot as hell, but I don't like shorts or a full kit for everyday riding and these work great, not hot at all and they protect you from the sun, etc. I ordered another pair (of the more "regular" cut) right away.

so, yeah, I love 'em. - Edwin in Flordia, June 2009

Amazing cap, fits great, quality is through the roof. It's nice to see an item online and it turns out to be exactly what I expected, this is my first purchase from Outlier and won't be my last. Think I'll pick up a pair of pants soon, maybe a hoodie. - Darren, May 2009

Today, because I had some time to kill before an event in downtown Brooklyn, I biked from work (Chelsea) to Chari's and Co (LES) to Boneshakers and King Kog (Greenpoint) to Downtown Brooklyn and back to the East Village. It has been raining since 6pm. I just got home and my pants are basically dry. I also wore them to work and on my morning commute. I typically come to work less than dry in the summer. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making such a great, practical, versatile, well tailored product. Let me know if you need the Outlier equivalent of a Subway Jared.

With gratitude and appreciation, - Julian in NYC, May 2009

I received the Empire Merino T-Shirt today. WOW! I own many pieces of clothing made of merino wool but nothing like this. The fabric is top quality and doesn't cause the itching normally associated with wool fabrics. I can't wait to see how it ages but I my first impression is very positive: this is a top quality t-shirt! I might just have to order a pair of pants next to go with it... Kind regards, - Patrick in Quebec, May 2009

Hi I got my hoodie the other day and its awesome! - Boise, May 2009

Just took the new pants out for my first long ride through a misty, drizzling brooklyn. They shed the rain like water off a goose's, you know. They are very cooling, and at times it felt strangely like I wasn't wearing pants at all. They are certainly super tech, but great tailored, classy, everyday street wear as well. I've even received a couple "Hey, where did you get those pants?" while out and about. I sang your praises to a few new fans, and i've directed them your way. Good luck with everything, I'll be in touch for a pair of black climbers in the near future. - Erik in NYC, May 2009

I just recieved my pants and they fit me like a glove so thanks for the fast and good service. - Axel in Sweden, May 2009

Thanks for following up! Everything is ok with the cap. I was a little concerned when I first opened it that it might be too large but quickly realized that it just fits a bit differently than the typical racing style cycling cap. It is truly a quality garment of exceptional material and construction.

I'd like to add that the experience of shopping from Outlier has been extremely positive from start to finish. The website looks great, items are well photographed, the purchasing process was simple and organized, shipping was fast and communication has been good throughout. I will recommend your business highly and will definitely be purchasing from you again. - Robert, May 2009

I wanted to share a story with you that I am confident you will enjoy.

So I had my first 'garage sale' last night. (This isn't the part you are supposed to enjoy) I was coming off the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge around a fairly tight turn. My bike slid out from under me and I hit the pavement on my left side, sliding for a good several feet. When I checked my damages, I saw that I rashed up my wrist, elbow, and tricep. My knee hurt too and I thought, "shit, I just bought these Outlier pants." But when I checked my leg the pants didn't have one scratch, despite a gash to my knee underneath them.

These pants are great. Look good, feel good, and can take a beating. I'm not sure from what space-age material you made these pants, but I'm thinking now had I bought that sweatshirt that my arm may have been fine too. Too bad you don't make clothes for computers. My MacBook needs to be serviced now - covered in the juice of the banana that was supposed to be my dinner.

I look forward to my next purchase. Thanks for bringing such a quality product to market.

Cheers. - Dave in NYC, May 2009

BTW, I bought two of your Empire Merino Tee a couple of weeks ago and I'm buying two more because I don't want to wear anything else anymore. They are incredible! If only you had pants in 38....

Thank you, - Nicolas, May 2009

Hey guys, I just wanted to drop an email and say thanks for shipping the cap out so fast. 7 days man, that's faster than UK postage.

The quality of production is outstanding and although I've not worn it in the rain yet I'm sure it holds it own.

I'll be ordering the Tropical asap for the kinder months for sure now.

All the best. - Tristan, May 2009

Just got the 4 seasons pants, they fit like a dream, look and feel great. The weather's getting pretty rubbish over here now so the timing's been perfect. Just hanging out for the workwears to be re-released.

Cheers, - Guy in London, May 2009

Dude,

Thank you very much for making such awesome pants – So here is the quick story. I got the pair on Thursday, went home and immediately put them on and got on my bike. I went for a quick spin and was really stoked.

On Friday we were heading to a wedding, so I put the grey ones back on, they rocked it, felt great on the way up in the car, looked nice at the rehersal dinner. Saturday – I actually forgot my suit, so I went out and bought a jacket and white shirt and paired it with my black pants. The wedding is for Paul, whom you had met and knows all about your company. He is a bike polo dude so I got to brag about my pants to a lot of people.

I wore the grey ones yesterday and today the black ones. Anyway – they really look great and I really fucking love them. When I put them on I thought they could be good over multiple days. And since I’m seeing different people really only you emily and I know so who cares.

Did you ever read H S Thompson book on the hells angels, where they would get one pair of bluejeans, get them super dirty and then only wear those jeans for the next year? Yep, somehow I’m feeling the kinship.

Thank you very much. - Jeff in NYC, May 2009

Got em!
Been wearing em since I unpacked em!
Don't think I ever wanna take em off!
(gf may not be so pleased with that, ahem ;)

awesome. I think I may need to order the Dry Cotton ones too. o_O

Thanks a million. - B., May 2009

I love it! Super comfortable and good at not getting smelly. I commuted to and from work (18 miles), wore it around the house, slept in it, wore it again the next day, and only put it in the laundry 'cause my 3 year old slimed me. Doesn't say much for my personal hygiene but a lot for the shirt :) Thanks again, - Aaron, May 2009

I have to tell you the pants you gave to me are one of best i ever worn. i could breathe in them move freely for moment i thought i had sweet pants on.THINK YOU - Lesly in Bed-Stuy, May 2009

Everything about the shirt is as described and more. When I first put on the shirt, I felt it was slightly roomy. Then I read your letter. I washed it in a gentle cycle and tumble dried low... Voila! The perfect fitting shirt! Couldn't be happier. It feels great, and performs excellent. I go running in it everyday and I never have to worry about getting my stank on. I'm retiring my synthetic-moisture-wicking-stink-holding-shirts for sure. Well done! Please feel free to use any and all of my praises-- you all have definitely earned it with your dedication to quality and service!

Best, - Paul, April 2009

MOST FRIGGIN' AMAZING TEE I HAVE EVER OWNED. Thank you.

I'm saving up for some pants... True to size? - Paul (Again), April 2009

I've been wearing the 4Season Black Lotus pants a lot the past three months, and all I can say is that they are terrific pants, on and off bike. I rode them from Vienna to Bratislava (http://fixedgear.at/index.php?id=143) in temperatures ranging from -14°C to -7°C (but, to be honest, wearing a standard Assos cycling bib underneath)[1] and nearly daily in the city on my way to work. They are warm when it's cold, cool when it's warm, dirt is only a minor issue and the stretch makes sure they look fine, on the bike and in the office. They are not only great pants for biking, but simply great pants.

To make it short: I love them. The only thing that could be improved is the design of the front pockets - no problem while riding, but whatever you store there tends to fall out when you're relaxing and stretching your legs on a couch.

all the best to you and your future projects, - peter, April 2009

Just wanted to give you a thumbs up and tell you the new Merino Tees look awesome! How are things going in NYC? I've been rocking the pants here in HK and doing wonders.....been raining here and they've been keeping my legs bone dry. Hopefully when I go riding I can get you some pics!

Best wishes, - Joseph in Hong Kong, March 2009

my boyfriend loves his pants..... Which makes me wonder where is the female line I wanna brag to him like he does... LOL! - Lima , Rides for Fitness on bicycling.com, March 2009

Gear of the Day

I'd call the Outlier OG the perfect bike-to-boardroom pant. But that doesn't begin the cover everything you'll do in these Schoeller Dryskin Extreme beauties. I've ridden to work, pedaled all around town, coached soccer, chainsawed a tree, mucked out my goathouse, covered the Tour of California, and gone on a $300 dinner date in the Outliers. They look a little weathered, but structurally they’re still perfect. The coating is part of the secret, says Outlier: Microscopic spikes don't let molecules from grease or other staining materials adhere to the fabric. Water more or less beads up and rolls right off, too.

As with any great piece of clothing, the design and construction are at least as important as the material. The medium-cut - think somewhere between Italian and American - is comfortably stretchy when you're riding; when you're off the bike, the pant falls in a way that doesn't make it look like a riding pant. It's got that sort of Bonobo's tailored, exquisite-louche feel. The material and stitching are also extremely durable, resist abrasion and don't fray or tatter easily.

All of this makes the $180 (or more, depending on the version and season) a good investment instead of a silly splurge. I compare the purchase to the $90 Swobo wool T that's paid for itself by outlasting any number of $20 cotton tees. And I'm not the only one who thinks so: Each new iteration of the OG sells out quickly. - Bill Strickland, Bicycling Magazine, February 2009

Well, I've had them almost two weeks now. And they continue to impress me. I've washed them once even though they simply do not hold odor, stains, dust, road grit, slush, dog hair or anything else for that matter. They just stay black. Water rolls right off.

Last night I rode home and shoveled the driveway in them for two hours in almost two feet of snow at 15 degrees. They were dry and comfy the whole time. Last week I rode in at -16F. My legs got a bit cold, but not too bad in 15 minutes. Not once have I gotten them caught in the drivetrain. So comfy all the time.

These pants are amazing, worth every penny and now completely sold out. It's kinda nice taking a chance on a product and having it go my way. - Indyfab25 on MTBR.com, January 2009

Got the 33s today and they fit great! Thanks for the quick turn around-- - David, December 2008

So far so good with the pants. Ultimate traveling pants. Look pro, wear great, pack great with minimal wrinkles and very comfy. I was just wearing the black OG 4 Season Dry while I was in Miami at Art Basel in 75 degree weather. Helps avoid what I have termed "hot crotch" while flying and sitting on a plane for hours. I've been looking for pants like this for a long time - professional looking yet technical and easy to care for. - Seldon in NYC, December 2008

The pants are amazing and fit great! They are my new favorite thing.

A few of my friends have started referencing these pants as "Future Pants" or "Spaceman Pants". I think you've got a really good product and I hope it catches on hard for you. - Matt at Velocity USA, December 2008

I just bought three pairs of pants and wore the winter weight pair to yoga. No problems at all. In addition, I now I enjoy pouring drinks on myself just to watch the liquid roll off :) Cheers to Outlier and much continued success. I love the pants! - Glenn in NYC, December 2008

awesome awesome pants, seriously these are exactly what i've dreamed of. - Nine in NYC, November 2008

Excellent design - great job of keeping the functionality hidden. - Dan Gould, PSFK.com, September 2008
